Although all eyes are pointed at the revived North American version, the Blue Oval company also takes care of drivers from other parts of the world. The mid-size truck is coming with updates and one of the most interesting ones is the 2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak. This performance-oriented version is available in Australia and a few more markets. It has always been pretty exclusive, but the upcoming model will come with even more interesting features. First of all, we are about to see a new engine option on the offer. Also, a couple of new additions to the list of standard equipment is expected. The new model will hit the market by the end of the year.

2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak Gets More Efficient Engine

The biggest novelty for the 2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will come under the hood. So far, this version has been exclusively available with a 3.2-liter turbodiesel. Starting from the next year, two engines will be in the offer. Besides the standard inline-five unit, we will also see a new 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbodiesel in the offer. The new engine may be smaller, but it is also far more efficient. It is good for about 210 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, which is for about 13 horses and 20 lb-ft of torque more compared to the standard inline-five turbodiesel.

Although the five-cylinder engine will probably remain more capable in terms of towing, the new one will be quicker and also feature higher mpg ratings. Latest reports suggest an average combined fuel economy of around 31 mpg. Another important thing about the new engine is that it comes with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. On the other side, the turbo-five is paired to an older-generation 6-speed automatic gearbox. Of course, AWD is standard in both cases.

Of course, this model also comes with a number of distinctive styling features. Compared to standard Ranger models, it comes with a unique grille design. Also, there are distinctive 18-inch wheels, as well as a completely new body kit. On most pictures, you will see this truck in the orange finish, but there are actually several more color options in the offer. This version is based on a Crew Cab model, so the 2020 Ford Ranger will continue in the same way and that will be the only body style in the offer.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, there is a couple of Wildtrack logos around the cabin. Also, there is a fair amount of additional features. For example, there is a pretty long list of safety features, which most rival can’t match. Some of the highlights are pedestrian detection, semi-automatic parking assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, driver monitoring, lane keeping assist and automatic high beams. Also, this is a pretty upscale trim level, so leather upholstery is standard, as well as tech goodies like an 8-inch touchscreen, which features Ford’s latest SYNC3 infotainment system. Also, there are practical features like USB, 12V and 230V ports.
