0

The most popular mid-size pickup truck on the market has been updated for this year, so the current generation is about to remain in production for some more time. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see novelties before the next overhaul. However, the company has prepared a couple of interesting novelties already for the next year. One of them will be the new 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition. The Trail is a special edition or package, which will be offered across the range, including models like Tundra and 4Runner. Some of the features will be common but count on a couple of exclusive things as well. The new version will be a limited edition and we expect to see just 7.000 units in the offer.

2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition Upgrades

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will be a limited edition with a couple of upgrades. At this point, we know for sure that we will see the same aesthetical approach as in other Trail Edition models in the lineup. In terms of the exterior design, this means lots of blacked details, which will practically replace all those flashy chrome surfaces on regular models. In addition, you may count on exclusive wheels design and blacked badges. Speaking of the wheels, those are practically the same TRD Off-Road wheels with Kevlar All-Terrain tires you can find in the TRD Off-Road Trim. Another interesting thing about this package is that it will be offered for just a couple of colors. Those would be  Army Green, Cement, Midnight Black, and Super White.

A couple of upgrades are expected on the inside as well. At this point, we know for sure it will come with the blacked interior, with tan stitching. In addition, you may count on exclusive floor mats. Another thing to mention is that this version will be available in Double Cab version only.

Features

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition is essentially SR5 trim. Therefore, you may count on the same list of standard equipment, other than those exclusive things. Therefore, you may count on a decent list of tech goodies, starting from an updated 8-inch touchscreen with a new infotainment system, which comes with standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well. The list of standard equipment also includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, and fog lights, as well as navigation and parking sensors. Additionally, you may count on a 110-Volt power outlet located in the bed, as well as on lockable bed storage boxes with insulation on the driver’s side to double as a cooler. A 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat is also on the list of standard equipment.

2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition Engine

When it comes to the powertrain department, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will come with well-known characteristics. Of course, we are talking about a 3.5-liter V6, famous for its reliability and durability. The engine comes in pair with either manual or automatic transmission (both with six gears) and delivers a max output of 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. A max towing capacity goes around 6.800 pounds. Also, a good thing to know is that both 2WD and 4WD versions will be available.

Release Date and Price

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition should arrive in the summer. However, we won’t be surprised if we see a little bit of delay, due to the current situation with the COVID-19. When it comes to the price, details are still unknown. Still, we know it will be based on the SR5 trim level, which starts slightly under 30.000 dollars with the V6 engine.

Toyota Tacoma Nightshade Edition

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition won’t be the only limited edition for the next year. The Japanese manufacturer has prepared another version, called Nightshade. This model will also be mostly about visual upgrades, but it will be far more upscale in terms of standard equipment and luxury, as it will be based on the Limited trim. In terms of aesthetics, you may count on a black grille, black mirror caps, and blackened door handles, while black wheels and exhaust pipes are here to complete the aesthetical approach. As this model will be based on the Limited trim, the list of standard equipment will be much longer. This also means a notably higher price, as this trim level starts around 38.800 dollars. In terms of powertrain, things will be pretty much the same.
