The TRD Pro package made a noise when it appeared a couple of years ago. So far, only three vehicles are using it. There is a lighter version, TRD Sport as well, but it is not as near as impressive as the Pro package. This set of features improves off-road capabilities for the Tacoma. Now, with the arrival of 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel and extra torque, the truck will be unstoppable.
Well, adding a diesel engine to the TRD Pro trim is one of the highlights for the upcoming season. However, there are also rumors saying the Japanese company will expand the range of vehicles using this package. Favorites to get the set of off-road accessories are Toyota Land Cruiser and Sequoia. At this moment, besides Tacoma, only bigger truck Tundra and 4×4 SUV 4Runner are coming with such offer.
Competition
When the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel USA appears, it will be the main rival to Chevy Colorado Diesel. This is one of the best trucks in North America thanks to its 2.8-liter engine. With this drivetrain, Colorado can pull 7,700 pounds. Other, petrol trucks are far behind. With engine using diesel fuel, new Tacoma will be able to offer more than 7,000 pounds of towing capacity.
Colorado is not the only competitor. The new Ford Ranger could get a diesel drivetrain as well. Also, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will compete its Raptor version as well.

Toyota will add a color or two to make its new 2019 Tacoma Diesel more distinctive and authentic. We could see it in some variant of blue or green paintjob. Red, Black, and White are definitely going to be the part of the palette. Also, the interior will depend on trim level. From cloth to leather, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will definitely offer the base SR and top-notch Limited grades.
2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel Price and Release Date
The cost of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel is still unknown. We can guess, but everything depends on where the model is landing. Definitely, the new drivetrain will raise the price. But, where will all start, we can only guess. To be more competitive, the new Tacoma Diesel could offer similar price as the Chevy Colorado. That means everything will start around $30,000 without too many options.
Well, we will know more when the 2019 Toyota Tacoma Diesel become official. Fans assume the release date is not set yet. But, the truck could appear next summer. All we can do it is to wait.

Since the Colorado and the Canyon is out with the 2.8 turbo diesel, then why can’t Tacoma have a diesel on the market, as well?

Thank you for letting me know about the diesel. Also I feel that a 1794 version in the Tacoma diesel with a choice of a manual transmission would add a beautiful touch to the Tacoma and a mesquite color to match.

Pressure is mounting to get this right, Chev is coming out very soon with the inline 6 3.0L with 10 spd auto, Ford Just came out with the F150 3.0L V6 diesel with 10 speed auto. The tacoma needs a diesel with 260-275 hp and lots of ft lbs torque to compete with what already out there. And a new 10 speed transmission to boot. I would be a buyer if 4×4 and excellent mpg and a 10 spd auto could be had in a Tacoma diesel.
