2022 Chevy Colorado: What To Expect

0

If we consider that the 2021 model year is coming with noteworthy updates, it seems pretty certain that the 2022 Chevy Colorado will come without bigger changes. Still, it is possible to see a couple of tweaks, according to the latest reports. Those changes would be minimal, though there is a chance to see one that’s bigger than others, in terms of discontinuation of the diesel version. Other than that, we could see things like new color options, a couple of additions to the list of standard equipment etc.

On the other side, the base layout will remain the same. This means you may count on familiar characteristics, which are mostly about utility. This model offers excellent towing ratings, potent engines and quite affordable starting price. However, there are also some drawbacks, such as low-grade interior, low predicted reliability ratings etc. We expect to see 2022 Chevy Colorado sometime in the second half of next year.

2022 Chevy Colorado Redesign

When it comes to base design characteristics, we certainly won’t see major changes. Despite that the current generation has been around for almost a decade, it still holds its position on the market pretty well. Also, the next year will bring a couple of nice updates for the 2021 model year. We are about to see a restyled front end, as well as several new features on specific versions. That’s why new color options are the biggest thing 2022 Chevy Colorado can bring.

This also means that we are about to see familiar versions in the offer. You may count on a variety of versions, depending on the cab style and bed size, while there are also specific versions, such as ZR2, which comes with loads of upgrades in terms of off-roading, such as suspension upgrade, skid plates, tow hooks and more.

Interior

The Interior has never been the strongest point of this pickup truck. Simply, Colorado is designed in a pretty traditional manner, where there is no room for too much convenience. The cabin is mostly made of low-rent materials that are hard to the touch, while the seats are pretty basic, without too much side support. Also, the second row in the double cab model isn’t particularly spacious and rivals feel much better in this aspect. The 2022 Chevy Colorado isn’t expected to be any different. Of course, there is always room for some additions in terms of standard features. Still, the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect.

Speaking of the standard equipment, the current model already comes with things like a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system. In higher trim levels, you can also get things like navigation, automatic climate control, wireless device charging, an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, additional USB ports etc.

2022 Chevy Colorado Engines

As we already mentioned, there is a chance to see the 2022 Chevy Colorado diesel version discontinued. On the other side, some reports suggest that the oil-burner will remain in the offer until the complete redesign. In any case, it will be a real shame not to see this engine in the offer anymore, as it offers excellent towing capabilities and great mpg ratings at the same time. Of course, we are talking about a well-known 2.8-liter V8, which puts our 180 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to ensure the max towing capacity of 7.700 pounds.

On the other side, gasoline models will remain in the offer. Base versions come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit, which is good for about 200 horsepower and it’s affordable price makes it perfect for fleet vehicles. On the other side, most drivers would probably pick a well-known 3.6-liter V6. This one features a max output of 308 horsepower. Besides excellent acceleration, this engine also ensures respectable 7.500 pounds of max towing capacity.
