2021 Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel Is Coming Next Year

0

After a quite long period of waiting, the Wrangler-based pickup truck finally arrived last year. Despite we are practically talking about a brand-new model, the company has prepared big novelties for the second production year as well. For this model year, we are about to see the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel, a version equipped with FCA’s familiar diesel engine, which already powers the new Wrangler, as well as models like Grand Cherokee etc.

Other than the new engine, we don’t expect any significant changes for the next year. The overall design will certainly remain the same, though there is always room to see updates in terms of standard features and similar things. The 2021 Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel will hit the market in the third quarter of the year.

Of course, the most significant feature of the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel will be the engine. We are about to see a diesel version of the new pickup truck and we already know all its specs. Of course, we are talking about a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which puts out around 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. With such numbers, you may count on excellent driving dynamics across the whole rev range. The whole amount of horses is available already under 2000 rpm, so the transmission has been revised as well. Of course, we are talking about an 8-speed automatic transmission, which has been reworked in order to deal with low-end torque.

Of course, one of the things that come to mind is fuel economy. There is no doubt it will be notably higher compared to the gasoline counterpart. We count on pretty much the same ratings as in the Wrangler diesel. This SUV returns around 22 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg combined. On the other side, details about max towing capacity are still unavailable.

Other than the powertrain, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel won’t be any different than the gasoline version. You may count on the same overall designs, same chassis and same styling. This truck features a Wrangler-based design and comes in a crew cab layout. Just like the legendary SUV, it also comes with removable top and doors, which make it one of a kind in the segment.

The interior won’t be any different either. Of course, we will see a new instrument cluster, adapted to the diesel engine. The rest of the dashboard will remain untouched. This refers to the rest of the cabin too.

Features

When it comes to the standard equipment, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel will come with the same trim level organization as the gasoline model, except for special editions. So, the base model will come with the Sport badge. This trim included standard features like a transfer case, skid plates, cloth upholstery, a rearview camera, and the Uconnect infotainment system with a 5-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, USB ports and more.

The Overland is next in the line and this mid-range version comes with loads of tech upgrades. Some of the highlights are things like dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch touch screen, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and additional USB ports.

The latest reports also suggest that the off-road Rubicon trim will be available with this engine too. This is the most capable version of the truck, which comes with things like 33-inch off-road tires, front and rear locking differentials, a sway bar, rock rails, and a brush guard.
