By Honda’s pickup has always been special, thanks to its unibody design. However, it looks like it could become even more special, as we are getting reports about the high-performance version, which would come with the famous Type R badge. This isn’t the first time that we are hearing rumors about such a version but it looks like something is actually cooking in Honda’s kitchen this time. The 2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R could arrive already by the end of this year.
Although we still don’t know the details, we presume that this version would come with all kinds of upgrades. Of course, some of the things that come to mind are upgraded suspension, brakes and other mechanical modifications. We also count on styling upgrades, though there is no doubt that the most interesting thing about the 2023 Ridgeline Type R would be the engine. If we can trust rumors, that could easily be a turbo V6 unit.
2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R Design
Of course, the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R would heavily rely on the current generation of Honda’s pickup, which isn’t too fresh but which still has a lot of great things to show. Naturally, we would see all kinds of modifications. The first thing that comes to mind is the suspension setup. We would see new dampers and other components, along with lower ground clearance, which would reduce body roll and improve Ridgeline’s cornering. We have finally come to the most interesting aspect of the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R. While the standard model comes equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 280 horsepower, this model would certainly come with something more powerful. Most reports speculate about the 3.0-liter turbo V6, the same one that powers the new MDX Type S. That engine puts out around 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque and we have no doubt that would be enough power to provide respectable performance.
Of course, the engine should come with a 9-speed automatic, though some sources also speculate about the new 10-speed transmission. All-wheel drive would be standard, while we would also expect to see things like limited-slip differentials etc.
