2023 Ford Bronco Preview: Truck, Colors, Sport, DR, Warthog, V8

The famous SUV came back after a couple of decades and our first impressions are great. However, the big deal will be the 2023 Ford Bronco, which will bring the most capable version to the table – the “Raptor” version. At this point, the new version is still in the testing phase, but we already know a lot of details about it, especially when it comes to off-road upgrades.

On the other hand, the standard version of the SUV should carry on in the same way, with familiar design characteristics and features. Minor tweaks are always possible, but we are pretty sure that most of the features will remain the same as in the current model. Simply, the focus is now on the new Raptor.

In any case, the 2023 Ford Bronco should hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, though the Raptor will probably come earlier, maybe already next summer.

2023 Ford Bronco Raptor

Without any doubt, this will be the biggest novelty for the next year. At this point, we are still waiting for the full specs, but some of the details are already familiar. If you look at the test model, which still wears camouflage, the stance is much wider, while there are also massive 37-inch BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain tires, which will probably be an option. Base models will probably come with 35-inch units.

Also, we expect that the new model will come with Fox’s Live Wire twin-tube bypass dampers, the same ones that can be found in F-150 Raptor. The ground clearance will be notably higher, while we also count on a full load of exclusive styling details, which will make this SUV look way more aggressive.

When it comes to powertrain, two engines come to our minds. The first one is a well-known 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which puts out around 450 horsepower. Also, we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see a new-generation 3.0-liter unit with 400 horses. Still, keep in mind that this SUV will have all the power it can generate, in order to compete with the new V8-powered Wrangler, which puts out 475 horsepower.

2023 Ford Bronco Design

On the other hand, the rest of the lineup is about to remain the same. Therefore, you may count on a layout that has been introduced this year, which shares a lot of parts with the Ranger Pickup. Visually, things are completely different and the 2023 Ford Bronco will continue with the styling hat that resembles previous generations a lot. Of course, you may count on both two- and four-door versions.

On the inside, the Bronco will continue to offer a layout that combines modern and retro elements, with materials that are rugged but don’t look cheap. The two-door model isn’t particularly generous with passenger space, but the four-door model is a completely different story.

Features

This aspect shouldn’t bring surprises either. So, all models should come standard with goodies like push-button start, an 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, USB ports, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. More expensive models will also come dual-zone climate control, remote start, a 12-inch touch screen, navigation, a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, additional USB ports, and wireless device charging.

The same thing goes for safety features. The list of standard features will include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking. Among options, expect to find things like a surround-view parking camera system, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, evasive steering assist, and driver drowsiness monitoring.

2023 Ford Bronco Engines

Under the hood, we expect no surprises, aside from the new Raptor version. So, base models will continue with a 2.3-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 300 horsepower. On the other hand, the optional 2.7-liter V6 is good for about 330 horses. Keep in mind that both engines run on premium fuel. You can use the regular gasoline as well, but the max output is lower in that case.

The turbo-four comes standard with a 7-speed manual transmission. A 10-speed automatic is an option in versions with turbo-four and standard with V6 models.

When it comes to fuel economy, the turbo-four returns around 20 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The V6 is thirstier and returns around 18 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

2023 Ford Bronco Release Date and Price

We believe that the new 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will arrive next summer. Other models shouldn’t hit the market before the last quarter of 2022. The base version costs around 30.000 dollars, while the pricing for the new Bronco Raptor is yet to be announced.
